New Directions is Greenfield's ecumenical community youth ministry for students in grades 4-12. New Directions began on May 1, 1989 and exists to love and accept youth where they are, share the gospel of Jesus Christ, and nurture and equip youth to honor and serve God as they grow in their Christian faith.
Small groups of students meeting weekly with an adult leader to share life, explore scripture and build community.
Students make a reservation to spend time with friends and a couple of adults at the youth center. Reservations can be made any day of the week at a variety of times. Each Reservation includes a devotion and activities chosen by the student participants. Up to 8 students can be in a Reservation. Text or call (937) 661-0197 to make a reservation.
Students participate in a variety of long and short-term service opportunities. Examples include: sorting and assisting with food distribution at the Greenfield Area Christian Center Food Pantry; community clean-up; raking leaves; building the new school playground, assisting community members with Christmas decorating, Christmas shoeboxes, and week-long mission trips.
Short-term groups are offered by community leaders according to their interests. Recently students have enjoyed: "Wednesdays in the Woods" exploring local trails and nature sites, art therapy, cooking, ceiling tile painting and creative writing.
